Kohler Courage issue
I have an LTX 1040 with a Kohler Courage single, 19hp I think. The engine stopped. It’s not locked up but will only turn 1/2 rotation. I’ve looked almost everywhere but can’t find what’s binding it. Nothing on top, pulled the flywheel and still same. So I need to remove the top of the engine, never done that. Any ideas on what might have come loose inside to bind the crankshaft? And any tips on removing the top! I’ve looked at it on YouTube and doesn’t look too bad
Thanks, Ted |

my two guesses:
#1. Broken connecting rod. #2. Flywheel magnets have come unglued and are jammed up. |

I pulled the flywheel, so not that. I know the valves are moving, but I didn’t see if piston was moving both ways, will check that

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
