Default 1914 full of gas

Hi guys. This morning i woke up before the heat set in ready to mow the lawn and found the 1914 locked up with gas. I pulled the dipstick and it was completely full. I drained the crank case and it came out like a garden hose...looked like around a gallon...sitting for about 6 days. I also pulled the plugs and spun the motor over to blow out the cylinders. New oil and filter in place and got the mowing done just as it hit the mid 90's... put it away and the gas is SHUT OFF. I pulled open the carb carefully and checked it all over and all looks good but i think its time to replace the valve and seat. The problem is I have a Nikki Carb on it and everything i have found on here for the onan motor is for the walboro carb. The cub parts website calls for a ME-146-0289 so i typed the part number in google and the kit looks to have a metal valve with a rubber seat along with a brass part that holds it all together. What i have on my engine right now is a brass seat with a rubber tipped valve. The rubber tip looks a little deformed.
So Is this the right part? My tractor only has 650 hours on it so i doubt a new carb was put on but cant say if it has ever had work done to it.
Any advice would be helpful. Attached is the photo of what i have found on the net (sears)
Thanks

If this problem started overnight so to speak, sometimes debris gets between needle and seat.
and you get what you described.
if it were me ( I'm thrifty) I would try blowing the carb out with an air hose being careful not to loose parts.
if it does not have a gas filter, install one, being careful not to induce debris in the line while installing it.
many times this happens especially if the gas hose is old.

The hours you mention, don't seem that many to need a new needle/seat.
but if you were lucky you didn't damage any gaskets if you took it apart already.
Disclaimer:
I have not worked on that particular model, so I am generaLising here.
Others will be along who possibly have.
If you have an engine mounted mechanical fuel pump it is possible the diaphragm is damaged and pissing fuel in the crankcase, it happens!

Super1914, did you check your fuel pump too? They can leak into the sump if they fail. Here are 2 places I would check before I purchased anything from Cub Cadet.

Or call Gary. He is very nice and knows his stuff on the Onans.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was able to take the carb apart without damage to the gasket so I am not worried about running it as is. I didn't see any debris in the float but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.
What is there to check on the fuel pump? I see cub wants around 150 bucks for a pump so I hate to just replace it as a guess. Can they be rebuilt? Would a bad pump allow fuel to fill up into the combustion chamber as well?
I will say that when the tractor is running, it runs perfectly and doesn't seem to starve for gas at all. There is a filter in line but all of this stuff is 30 years old so I am not ruling anything out. I have a minor leak at the fuel shutoff on the bottom of the tank now so I need to get that fixed up too. The gas has really never been shut off on this thing so I assume the seals were getting dry.

This isnt the only time that I have had gas in the oil....this spring you could smell gas in the oil when I changed it, however, it was not to this severity. I had been shutting off the gas since this spring and forgot to do it the last time which leads me to belive there was not debris caught in the float valve.

Napa sells a low pressure electric pump. 50$. I've put three of them
in now and will never go back to a mech pump. No need for a shut off valve
anymore.
PM Roland for the part number. It's a faucet brand I think

That may be an option. I see onan parts has a replacement pump for mine for around 70 but it is a mech pump and clearly states that no parts are available for it.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a pretty slick unit but at 65 bucks I would still like to verify that the pump is the culprit.

Terry- I tried to PM Roland as well but it looks like his mailbox is full so maybe he can chime in if he sees this.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
