My cub 72 tricycle
Here's my cub, its a 1968 cub Cadet 72. I bought it from a man who was building it into a puller for his young daughter. He said it has a copperhead gasket on it, and also has new 26x12x12 tires with new rims. The day of the pull he weighted it down and hauled it to the fair grounds. When it was her turn to pull she was to scared to so it never got pulled. I bought it with no intentions of ever pulling it, just play around with it and move trailers around the house and shop. While I was off for Christmas break I got it all apart and re-painted it gloss black (was gloss black when I bought it but was scratched bad). I added the tractor muffler. I always wanted a tricycle front end on a garden tractor, but never had the time to build one. So I had one custom made and ordered it. After a little cutting, and drilling a few holes, me and my dad got it installed. I'm pretty satisfied with the looks. Reminds me of a 66 series International tractor. It also steers good and is not sloppy. Only sloop is the play in the cub steering. Now on to the pictures!
The night I brought it home. After adding the new muffler. Fresh paint! The kit arrived. Putting everything in place. Everything bolted into place to move around. And how it is as of today. When I got home from work I put everything back on it. Front wheels are now painted as well as the grill. I'm also ordering a new headlight bezel sticker as I type this. I'm pretty proud of my cub. My cubs far from restored, The body and paint are slick but I still plan on working it like its made to do. I've had John Deere, Ford, Massey Ferguson, MTD, and many other brands of garden tractors and this is by far the strongest , best pulling garden tractor I've ever had. I guess because its all shaft drive instead of belt like most others. Hope everybody enjoys the pics

I love that tricycle look. I am almost tempted to convert my nephew's 73 over to a tricycle front end.

When you said tricycle front end, I was thinking of a single wheel front end... I forgot that the narrow 2 wheel was called a tricycle front end.
Haven't seen a single front wheel since maybe the Farmall 400/450 series, including some of those that were often converted from tractor to cotton picker and back. With the black paint, tricycle front end and Farmall size muffler, that is a very unique Cub. A big sweeping tip-o-the-hat to you.

Very nice job. I would add a brace to the tractor muffler, thats a lot of weight hanging out there.

Nice IH Cub Cadet Trike! IH Cub Cadets are a very well-made garden tractor.

Thanks guys The muffler is actually tack welded on all the joints. So it wont move or fall down over time. Had the Cub out today after work, I'm very satisfied with how it turned out.
I forgot to post this picture yesterday. Here's the Cub pulling mine and dads 1958 Huntress camper. pulled it with ease in 2nd gear. Even backed it up onto some blocks to level it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
