Talking New to me cub!

So excited I finally got my Cub Cadet today. It is a 680 Hydro with a 50" mowing deck. I traded an 18hp Craftsman for it. Not to bad considering the Craftsman did not run and the cub runs perfect. I would like to find some AG tires and possibly 3pt hookup for it with plow, discs, and other attachments. It is dirty but I will try to get some pics tomorrow. Any info on this model would be great.

Welcome...I'm near Clayton, and it sounds like you got a great tractor.

By the way, we like pictures!

I have the same Cub. Mine is an '84. Now for some info. It should have the K-301 12 horse Kohler. Other models like it are the 1210 and the 1282. They only made them from 82 to 84, but the parts are still plentiful for them. Very well built tractor with strong motor and transmission. Just watch out on the transmission, if you ever take bolts out, watch how tight you torque them. The tranny case is alumminum. Just an overall good tractor, and I know im pleased with my 680.

I am located about 10 miles north of Wilkesboro. I hate that it is raining looks like no pictage today. What do I need to hook up a brinly plow? And where can i get the parts to do it? To elaborate a little from what I have been told the motor has been rebuilt, bored .030 over and gone completely through. I am going to have to clean it up though.

Nice find on your 680! Great to see another NC member. I'm near the Fayetteville area.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
