Pictures would be very helpful. Can you please try to explain a little better what you mean by "set the rest"? What have you done to it so far? What exactly are you haveing trouble with? If you give us some more info, maybe we can help you.

thank you for the reply. i shall have picts. up tommrow afternoon. i've been monkeying with the gov. i was not thinking and removed the gov.arm to paint. the kohler manual does not say at all how to set the throttle bracket so it stays mounted allowing my throttle wire to operate the speed control disk. i also have the blue ribbon for thie motor and it is about as dry as reading the dictionary.i'am making good progress on trying to figure it out. i love these old tractors.

well so far the govoner is working but not a lot of throttle. I took it to the chainsaw shop today and back. When i started out in 3rd. gear, the gov. seemed to pick up torq. I'am guessing that the throttle bracket is not set correctly, the speed disc rides on the back side of the brass nut,[around the stem-part of the brass nut.] And i believe the throttlebrac. is forked to the gov.shaft. I have the t.controll cable in the correct hole in the speed dics. And about the pin in the S.D that stops at the throttle bracket. Its not over reving, but backing off the gov. shaft and dropping down. Could be that the gov.arm needs re.adjmnt? But to tighten up the brass nut is a challenge, but too tight and the shaft dont turn. After it warmed up good by going to the shop, is when i could see the slack in the gov. setting. i still can get a pict. up of the old 7hp. to show where it is set at.

Well, I found section 6 Fuel System And Governor in the Kohlerengines Single Cylinder Engine Service Manual K-Series. So will give this try and move on to the speed setting and check. Cool! Looking good so far.

Well, I've made good progress on this adjustment! Now all I need to do is make a "z" bend in the throttle cable which operates the speed disc! Nothing to it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
