Default 1864 snowblower

I have access to a model 450 blower. Will this work on my 1864. It looks like there isn't much difference in the parts diagram between the 451 and 450.

Let's see if we can figure this out together: what does the parts pages below say will work? That's right, 451. That means a 450 will not. Get it? Got it? Good.

There's a difference between the 450 and 451 blower and that is the gearbox. If you find a 450 it WILL NOT WORK work your 1864. Plain and simple.

Maybe a little but its ok , everybody has bad days. So I know that the 450 isn't listed under the 1864. But in the part diagrams it looks like the same parts but in the gearbox inside is the different or am I wrong.

Winter has been cancelled here in MN. I never ran a snow blower last year! That is the winter we have planned.

But, if you don't believe that, I have a 451 that I got with my 1864 a few years ago. I don't think it ever has blown any snow. It is like new. I'd like to sell it. I'll try sending you a PM.

You can use it, but it will spin faster than designed. If you have enough horse power to run it, it will blow the snow 75'. If the price is right, go for it and run the tractor less than full throttle if concerned. I used one on a 2084 and it worked just fine. By the way, remove the limit pin on the throttle of the carburetor and re-adjust the governor, you will bump it up to a 20hp as did Kohler.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
