Default ID BY Serial Number, Please.

I can't seem to figure out this serial number thing and the more I try the more confused I get. So I'll just ask the experts here (again)

Whenever a Cub comes up for sale here it's almost always six or more hours drive away And very few people know what they have and often the decals are gone or painted over. That's the case with this one. It's been painted green, but at least the old guy knew it was a Cub.

The serial is a tag riveted to the differential. 2050047U466032

I'll post a couple of pics. I'm hoping it's a 149.

Thanks again.

Cool

Certainly has an identity problem.

Never liked that shade of green or yellow..

Whew! Even Google couldn’t figure out that acronym.

The tractor is over priced and seven hours drive one way. But I wouldn’t mind having another 149. It has hydraulic lift and rear lift. Though I have all that leftover already. Judging by the paint on the chassis and engine, someone has stripped it down once. That can be good or bad. The old guy selling it (he’s selling 3 tractors and a few walk behinds) is in poor health and is cleaning up. He seems very honest, but not too knowledgeable.

I’ll have to see what kind of a price we might arrive at. He’s asking $950 which is about in the middle of price ranges here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
