General Kubota Diesel Questions
Hello all. I'm curious about a couple of things dealing with the Kubota Diesels that were put into Cubs in general. The reason I ask is that I'd like to do a diesel version of Scott Murphy's 1706 Sub Super.
How loud are they in stock form, using a stock muffler? This is a concern given where I am. I rented a Kubota 008-3 excavator with a D722 non-turbo motor this past weekend and I really liked how well that ran. It was pretty quiet too, enough so I could speak in a normal volume while running the machine. How complicated are they electrically? Any suggestions for a diesel newbie? I have never owned a diesel before, just used them on various occasions. Never really tinkered with one, so this project would be a learning experience as well. Thank you all for the responses.

As far as how quiet they are...... no more than any other diesel tractor. I wouldn't even say they are any if much louder than a gas mower. It won't be as quiet as that excavator though.
Electrically, starter, alternator, glow plugs, and a fuel shut-off and that's it. Unless you have one with an electric fuel pump. These aren't like "new" diesels. They are about as simple of a motor as it can get. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
