M18 Oil Pickup
Im in the process of rebuilding a M18 for my 682. The plastic oil gear had some teeth missing so I picked up a metal one from a KT17 to replace it. Is there a reason the M18's had plastic ones other than cost saving? Should I be using a plastic one?
I also cannot find the metal spring clamp that holds the oil pickup housing down to the block. The one I have snapped in half and part no. 52 237 02 is discontinued. It is just a thin piece of metal, i don't know what type so I don't know where to start in making my own. Does anyone have any ideas?

(A) I am assuming the reason for the Plastic Gear on the M-18 verses the Metal Gear on the KT-17....was "cost savings"
(B). Make your own clamp. It just simply holds the pickup tube down. No rocket science here.
