Any way to get my 129 started even though there seems to be ACR problems?
Just wondering. The shop it's going to said it might be a month until I get it back. I almost had it started today - came within seconds - I just wasn't fast enough with the choke. After that, it never reached the same RPM again with every attempt. Probably a stupid question, but is there a way to start this thing before these repairs are made? I was hoping to at least mow with it once before it goes to the shop.

Have you pulled the cam cover to visually see if the ACR spring is still attached? If it is not, you can reattach it without having to take the engine apart.
Go to our Tractor Tech library and download the Kohler Engine manual. It will show you how that spring is attached and give you an idea of what you are looking for.

Can I take off that cover without having to lift the engine? The frame looks to be in the way for the bottom right bolt. Sometimes the engine hardly turns at all - is this common with ACR problems? I do have the manual and have been looking at it - it talks about valve adjustments also as being a possible cause of not being able to start. It mentions that if the spring has come unhooked, one has to remove the oil pan to rehook or replace the spring. (?)
