XT3GS fwd/rev pedal adjustment
My 2019 XT3GS fwd and reverse pedals are really stiff to push down to the point my right knee hurts really bad for a couple of days after mowing for 3 hours. I could use the cruise control in the open areas but it would take forever to mow as it really slows down the fwd speed. I contacted Cub's tech support but no help there nor was my dealer. I have not seen anything regarding adjusting the pedals in any of my manuals so wanted to ask if anyone here has been there done that.
I desperately need to lighten the force required to operate the pedals. Thanks in advance. |

Hey rudedawg, I have similar issues with my 3225. See post about losing speed. Others say to replace pedal bushings which I plan on doing. Yea my foot hurts from pushing on pedal when mowing. I do use cruise control but it randomly kicks off when mowing. Good luck.

Thanks Yardman, yeah it gets bad for an old guy like me. I just finished sharpening and swapping out blades, greased all the zerks and filled it with gas to get ready to start mowing in this wonderful heat and humidity of MS. The machine only has 230.4 hours on it so the bushings should still be good. I did download an XT3 parts manual plus a 2000 Series 2011 & up Service manual so maybe I can track down the culprit and adjust/replace the part/s causing the issue. If I do find a fix I'll post it for the benefit of all who may be experiencing the same issue. Thanks gain.

Rudy, I would get your son to help. Maybe the two can figure out away to lock the cruise control at a faster speed.

Thanks Sergeant, yeah I may run it by him. He's pretty sharp on things but getting him cornered long enough is the key; it's easier to find a unicorn than to get a hold of him especially this time of year with him working in the commercial hvac business.

Rudy, have they always been that way or has it just become an issue?

Yes, the pedals have always been that way and the unit now has 232 hours on it.

I'm currently tracing the pedal controls section of the parts manual for a possible spring on the forward pedal control that may be the culprit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
