Default 2182 temp switch

my 2182 throws the temp light on dash after about 20 mins of run time. i always shut down quickly and let it cool. It has never boiled over and wonder if it could be a faulty temp switch. I would just replace it but that switch is no longer available. Any aftermarket part # that would cross reference?

It also makes me wonder if you have faulty thermostat, water pump or clogged cooling system. Is the radiator hot after 20 minutes?

Without knowing your serial #, for a switch on the earlier models there seems to be many hits for a temp switch. Verify before buy: https://www.fridayparts.com/temperat...IaAjulEALw_wcB

Cooling on the 2182 and the 1782 is marginal at best. Check everything T stat, pump, radiator and screen. I put a temp gauge in my water pumpers and I also added Red Line water wetter to the coolant, you can get it at most auto parts stores.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
