Default Heavy Duty Cart?

I am looking for a heavy duty cart, new or used. Any ideas of a good, rather cheap one. Did IH/Cub Cadet ever make one that would be easy to find and rather cheap? I am going to be hauling gravel in it. Size doesn't really matter. I just don't want something that when full, will bend the axles.

That would be nice, but way too much money.

I don't really spend as much money as it seems like. I'm lucky, my dad buys me a lot of the stuff I need. And some of the stuff I ask about I end up not buying or waiting to buy it.

I have an Agri-fab cart that's been through heck. I busted up a concrete patio and hauled the pieces out of the backyard with it. Definitely seen better days, but it's still in one piece. I also have filled it with dirt, rock, sand, and countless other things. Still holding together and nothing underneath is bent. Just the sheet metal.

I have a poly cart and it's great. Since it's plastic I don't care about leaving it outside and I've hauled way more than it's rated for without issue.

That's probably what I'll get. I'm glad to hear how it held up.

I have one of those, and I hate it. I hauled 4 bags of salt and it has not dumped right since, and the axle bent a little. Plus it is hard to dump. Some rock/dirt is always left behind. It is good for giving my dog a ride, that's about it.

I'm going on Craigslist right now to see what I can find. I wouldn't want to use an IH one for this either.

I like JMech's earlier comment about just making a cart. Really not that hard to do. Find a junk lawnmower with good rear wheels that will fit over a piece of pipe, there's your axle. Scrounge some scrap iron or even wood for that matter. It doesn't have to look nice or be perfect, it just has to work. Just rambling a bit. We never had a store bought lawn mower cart/trailer. One was made with some industrial wheels with hard rubber coating--Think really old school factory cart. The other was made from treated lumber, angle iron, and the axle from out of a tobacco looper (yeah I know theres only about 5 of us here that knows what that is).

We never had store bought carts either. I still have the one I used growing up. That was my cart. My granddad made it for me when I was a little kid. He actually put carpet and a canopy on it and dad used to pull me in it while he mowed. (Today's parents, and DCFS, would have a fit, lol.) Anyway, we took the carpet and canopy out and used it as a cart.

Back to the pertinent info:
It had old cultivator depth control tires for wheels. You know, like all cultivators had on them.... rubber, but hard. When we wore the wheels off it (literally), I built the new one, and like I said dad still has both of them. (The ones I made.) I took the old one of mine and put a new running gear under it. The bed was made of plywood, and it's still original. I still use it for leaf collection, but that is all.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
