Default Slooooowwww 804

I added this 804 to my collection a few weeks ago. It has rained almost everyday since I picked it up so I havn't had much time to mow with it but so far I've noticed that there is no change in speed between 4, 5, or 6.

I looked under the floor board for a few minutes the other day at it looks like when you push the pedal it rotates a slotted plate, then when you move the speed lever it sets a stop so when you release the pedal the slotted plate (and pedal itself) only goes back so far. From the looks of it, When I put the speed lever to 6 and release the pedal the slotted plate does not go all the way back to the stop, it comes to a rest at about the 4 stop position.

I checked the Technical Library but didn't see much on the RERs. Does anyone have advice on how to adjust the linkages to work properly?

Thanks fo your help

Jeff-

Thanks for the link to the manuals. It took me a few tries to get the model and serial numbers in right but it looks like this is a good start.

ACecil

Thanks, this is my 3rd Cub Cadet. I needed something with a better turning radius. My yard is so small I spent more time turning my 126 around than I did mowing. So far this little guy is working out real good.

It was a little painful to buy a belt driven rider but it beat push mowing and it has a great cup holder.

Here is my other ride, I've had it since I was about 10. My only wish was I knew what I had when I was a kid.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
