Trouble with CC 126
Hello,
I've been trying to keep the old family 126 going for years and I now have a problem that I'm not sure about. It's a 1971 gear drive that I replaced the clutch on about 10 years ago. What's happening now is when the tractor is off and in gear I can still push it. It doesn't push as easy as when it's in neutral but it still moves. Also, when running the wheels don't have much power. I hope someone can help me out. Rick |

Check the whole clutch assembly for worn and/or broken parts and proper adjustment
The main spring may be broken. The teaser spring may be broken as well. Sounds like it's about time for a complete clutch and drivetrain inspection and overhaul if necessary Any odd or unusual noises when depressing the clutch? |

The springs look fine. I put the tractor up on jack stands and it will run but the right wheel spins better than the left. The whole thing makes so much noise it's hard to tell where each sound is coming from.
I know the clutch release lever is worn and needs to be replaced. Could this be something in the differential? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
