Default Is my Block shot?
Hey guys. If you read any of my past posts I bought a QL 1450 with no compression. I tore the motor down this weekend. I thought all was good. Bore block per your suggestions. I was looking at it closer yesterday and noticed these two chunks out of the bottom of the cyl wall.

So is this block usable still? I really hope it is. Just bore it and go or hone and go. I did find out the piston was a +.010 after i wire brushed the top and it had those marking on it. .010.

The notches/ chunks are rough like broken cast would be. One is little more polished, i think from the con rod rubbing it after it broke.

that's usable. just chamfer the rough edge's a little . just make sure there's no cracks extending upward from those spots. also make sure your cam spins free . I've seen the cams get bent.

I'd run it. But like the guy above me said pull out the cam and check the block out thoughly, its hard to say what else could have cracked when the rod went bye-bye...
