Default Engine runs but wheels aren't moving...

I have a three year old LTX 1045 and was out mulching leaves on level ground, when all of a sudden the accelerator pedal goes kinda loose and the tractor stops dead... engine still running. I had it in reverse mode so I tried backing up and no motion there either.

So I let it sit for an hour or so while I indulged in deep thought, and decided to start it up again but didn't push the reverse button this time. Normally, when you do that and try to back up, the engine cuts off. This time... no forward or backward motion AND the engine didn't stop when I tried the reverse pedal.

I can't find anything in the operators manual about engine running but not getting any movement so I'm kinda at a loss here. Is there some kind of cable or link arm from the pedals to something else that might break and cause this loss of movement? I don't see anything hanging down loose. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi and welcome to OCC!! It sure sounds like the linkage from pedal to trans. the safety switch is most likely at the trans. that's why it's not shutting off. look close at the connections when you depress the pedal PLEASE do this with the engine OFF!!

It's a lot easier with the deck removed to where you can get up under it better. There is a linkage and a clip might have fallen out letting the linkage drop or slide out of the hydro connector.

I'll take a look for that linkage. Would that also be why the wheels no longer move?

If the linkage isn't working the hydro won't work.

Default Noticed one other thing...

I was just out looking at the tractor and noticed it is listing starboard about 7 degrees (arr matey). The wheels are level on the ground and the deck is level to the ground, but the tractor body is at a crazy angle! I need a service manual... I can't figure out why that would have happened, and for all I know it's why the wheels no longer recive power from the engine.

Look at the linkage as others have mentioned.

Look at the drive belt be sure its not broken, as this is the most comon problem.

look at the idlers too.

As far as it leaning off center, got pics?

Default Leaning

I'll post some later... by the time I get ome it's too dark for pictures. The leaning thing is weird, I'm not heavy at all and can't think what would have caused the tractor to lean so much. Thought maybe a bent frame but from looking at diagrams online the frame looks way to solid to bend enough without destroying the tractor.

Lightbulb Found the culprit

OK, manage to take the deck off and pushed the tractor back to the carport (dry area) where I could take a look underneath and see if any linkages are broke.

I didn't find any broken linkages, but I did find a very long belt that goes from the front to the back, that was pretty much totally shredded and wrapped around the back pully spindle. Looks like something I can fix once I figure out what the part number is!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
