1715 Transaxle Broken
I have a 1715 that I used to use for mowing until the transaxle blew gears out of the case.
The tractor is in good shape and mowed wonderfully until this happened. Is it worth trying to repair and if so, where can I find a new transaxle for it? I've checked e-bay and other sources and cannot find anything. I hate to part/scrap it out but I am getting close as I need space for my other tractors. Any good advice out there? Bugjunkie

Sorry but if it was me I'd part it out unless you can find a donor. Maybe one of the sponsors can help you.

I have several of these lawn tractors, (different versions) and the transaxle is a weak link. They are not worth fixing unless you have a parts tractor you could swap from.
And you SURE don't want to buy a new transaxle for it $$$$$.

Thanks guys,
I knew this was going to be the answer but I just hate to retire something with yellow paint on it! It was a good grass cutter. Guess I'll be wise and stick to the 149 and 169 for mowing chores! Bugjunkie

I bought a 1715 for the engine with a shot transaxle. Picked up a 16?? with a bad transaxle, and my main mower that I bought new in 92 (1330) pucked out last year, but luckily I had a doner for it.
If you like it, to bad you couldn't put it up for awhile and run an add looking for a complete tractor for parts, they aren't very expensive in my neck of the woods. Good luck
