Fan blade flew off? Starts but won't move..eh?
I was using my SLTX 1050 just as I normally do and all of a sudden it stopped moving. It starts up and the mower blades activate, but when I press the forward/reverse peddles nothing happens.
I looked under the tractor and found a ~7" white fan blade. I'm a handy person when it comes to fixing things but this one stumps me. What does this blade go to and what does it have to do with the tractor not moving? Looks like it sheared off or something. Any help will be appreciated, thanks. |

Can you explain what you mean by me running a bit to much pressure in my front tires? What does tire pressure have to do with the fan blade coming off? Is there a sensor or something?
Thank you. |

That fan (which is trashed) sits on top of the pulley that is belt driven from the engine.
The pulley turns the input shaft to the transmission. Since you have have no motion the pulley must have come off also. If you take the battery out and remove the battery tray, you can look right down at the top of the transmission and see where the pulley and fan should be (or should have been) . |

My guess is that the belt came off and took out the fan.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
