AL rear end, rear tiller adapters: Interest?
People are always asking on here for ways to put rear tillers on AL rear end tractors. Would there be any interest if I built them for sale?
This is what I made for mine: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=23922 The adapter I made I welded pieces to the tiller gearbox mount. If I produce them, I can simply make the rear plate and you can bolt the gearbox and use it. Or, I can make it like mine, only all parts will be bolt on (no welding required), but the tiller can be removed in a matter removing the belt, taking the lift pin out of the sleeve hitch and pulling one pin. Cost would be different between the two. I can build one of each and put a price on them. Again, price is not set..... I'm wondering more on interested than anything, but also know that price is always a factor. If you would be interested, state in which style. I can also find the belt size needed, and give part numbers/ size for it. Want this to be as easy as it can be. Comment below. If there is interest, I'll make a few. Or only the one style if that's what people want. Would even be willing to design and produce an adapter to use on a CI rear that would make the tiller quick mount if there is interest in that. Anyone interested? Any questions? |

John, I think there is a need out there for this but I have two "points?" to bring up. First, I have seen some your work and trust what you build. I believe you would be an honorable person to deal with and I would have zero issue buying from you. That being said, getting the word out and building a name people would want to go to to buy this/things from (i.e. Marketing) would be a hurdle to overcome. Sure you'd have a few guys from here pick them up but beyond that, there's a lot of guys out there that may never hear of you. Second, why not do what I did and take your idea to xTreme? Send them your idea, plans, a pitch, etc and see if they'd add it to there site? That way the product is available, made by someone a lot of people know/trust, and you don't have to take your time doing it. I say this because at the prices you listed and the time involved, idk what kind of profit you'd end up making. Just a couple thoughts. Either way, good idea and I hope it all works out

EDIT: I removed the price point I put in. Lets just see if there is any interest. Ryan, I'm not interested in selling ideas. Looking for a way to fund the hobby. If I just wanted to sell idea's, I'd sell a blueprint and people could make their own. I've referenced my thread lots of times. Enough someone could have done it..... but I also have never been asked to make one.... There are other avenue's to sell besides this site. But the guys here would be a good place to start. If they go over with guys that use their machines like we do, then I'll look to market them outside of here. |

Last I heard you don't have time to build engines or even scratch your butt so when exactly do you plan to build these hitches?

I said I didn't have time to build engines until winter. It's almost here..... most work I do is outside, so winter gets tough on my income. (I only have 21 hours logged this week because of rain.) People want motors.... but they want them now, and I didn't have any ready. I plan to get a few built up in the coming months. Already have 5 or so stripped down and the cranks are ground.

I would've purchased one from you. Was going to make my own but ended up buying one from xtreme. Was just easier for me to buy one made up and I could just put a few bolts in. Now I can pin it and hook the belt up and go

Build 1, post it for sale. Put a link in the parts resources thing as well. You can always do eBay too. Something that small wouldn't cost a ton to ship, and you could see what happens from there. Ppl want to buy it now, they don't want to wait. If they have to wait they will talk themselves out of it. (Been there with SAMs stubs...sorry Sam) The impulsive buy is what your after. You ever have buyers remorse 3 seconds after paying for something on the internet? You Know there is nothing you can do after you hit "confirm", but once you receive it your like... Yay!
Build it, they will come...

[QUOTE=J-Mech;436896]xtreme doesn't make what I have. He has a copy of the adapter for the 3pt if I remember correctly. That is a copy of a Cub Cadet item.
You remembered correctly |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
