Charity Tractor
I believe if a few noted participants here would be willing to spend the time to build a tractor for a worthy cause then the rest of us here would be happy to supply the parts to build it. The tractor with attachments could then be auctioned or raffled and the proceeds go to the charity. Maybe one person willing to prep the parts and another to paint and another to assemble? I know I have several parts I'd donate for a worthy cause. I could start it off by offering a frame and a few other assorted 149 parts. - Also, someone (maybe an OCC member) would end up with a very nice tractor!!

I like the idea and would like to see if it can be made to work. Think a lot of details need to be discussed and worked out but I’m happy to see if we can do something that will be helpful to both someone in need and at the same time a benefit to the members.

I know I have a over population of quietline parts I could possibly donate. A 1250 frame multiple rearends and linkages dashes and all. I could prolly part with a few for the cause I like the idea but.agree that some details need.gone over

Also come to think of it depending on the cause I might consider parting with the 1650 I have which is 90% complete and I have most the parts to finish it. Runs but smokes pretty good

To help with shipping we could send a trailer for people to load their parts on then send along to the next person. I have a large trailer I could send on such a trip.
Any parts collected and not needed could be sold to pay for Hy-Tran, filters, points, gaskets and such that need to be new. The builder should choose the model built since they may know a model better then other models. The builder should also make decisions on the final build but lots could be determined with polls on this site. We could sponsor a well being dug or give the proceeds to St. Jude, Salvation Army or any number of other great causes. I like the idea of a well being dug. I don't have the knowledge or experience to be the builder. I do like the 1650's and that was a great offer. We would need to determine the charity early on because that would have an effect on the parts donated. I don't see collecting parts being as much of a problem as getting the right talent to agree to do the build. Any volunteers?

I’ll toss this one out for comment. I have a 2284 that I have $3500.00 tied up in it. New engine, muffler, drive shaft etc. It has a 60” Haban. If someone wants to setup a raffle with the proceeds going to the Wounded Warriors Project I’ll let the tractor go for $2500.00.

Do you think some Cub Dealerships would agree to help sell tickets? Perhaps just a thread and/or online auction here where we could sell our unwanted parts with the proceeds going to a charity (a percentage going to the maintenance of this site?) would be easier to organize. A benefit auction might be best since we have so many models and duplicate parts. Maybe change the benefactor every 6 months/year or have a couple charities we could pick from when we list our items. Maybe I think to much. We have a huge resource in excess parts and tractors all over this country that, if organized right, could do a bit of good for some deserving people in need and clean up our work areas in the process.

How is said tractor going to be moved for places of being built to the winner?
Personally I think it's to many moving parts to make it work but will see what you guys come up with to change my mind. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
