First of many ???
Hi, I just got my first Cub Cadet to restore. Its a 582 Special. I didnt get far at all on it before i encountered my first problem. It came with a model 50a deck, and the 82 series uses a 50c model deck. Does anyone know if anything can be done to the 50a to have it work on the tractor? Please say yes. I would sincerely appreciate any help. Thank, Joe.

I think all you will need is the center pulley from a 50C deck. The upper pulley will be wider for the 5/8" belt.

Wow, that was fast. Thank you. That makes sense, the 50a and 50c look identical, but i couldnt figure out the difference between the 2.

The pulley may have already been changed too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
