Default Hydro Handle on 125
Morning Folks.
Trying to get the forward reverse handle of a 125. It seems
crazy but cannot budge it to get it off. I know somewhere on the
site here is some info on this battle but I cannot for the life of me find it.

Anyone got any tips or knows where I can find the threads that
address it.

Set screw must be removed, then slides off.
Likely to be corroded on. Try to get some penetrating oil in the set screw hole.

Mine was stuck solid too. Like Ironman said, I took the set screw right out gave it a squirt of PB Blaster, then put the screw back in but didn't tighten it. I repeated that several times. After a few weeks it was a still stuck, so I unbolted it from the bottom and pulled the shaft up through the dash, then using a large crescent wrench as a slide hammer it tapped off pretty easily.

Thanks guys, yea this thing is stuck solid big time. Been sprayed
and sprayed and then some more. Hadn't thought about pulling
the whole shaft out. Will let ya know how it goes.

Mine is a 149, but I took out the two bolts holding it to the frame crossmember That allowed me to pull the shaft up about six inches, enough to "slide hammer" with the crescent wrench. Your parts pic shows shows the 125 shaft being way more complicated then 149, but can you unbolt that bracket? (no part number on it)

Little tough to get in there due to the complexity of the control will only allow you to pull it up a few inches, maybe enough to get a puller on it. Why do you want to remove it?

Hi, West Valley (Ken) and myself have been workign on this tractor. I need to get the handle off because it just flops back and forth, won't engage either forward or reverse.

thanks for the picture of it pulled apart, that helps. I'm Kinda starting to wonder now, if maybe I need to run a drill into the set screw hole, and see if there isn't anther set screw in there. I can't feel one, and can't get an allen wrench to engage anything, but maybe somebody put two of them in there. I could always drill the hole out bigger and re-tap it. What do you guys think of that idea?

The splines are shot then, on the underside of the handle.
It's only pot metal after all.

Are you sure the pin # 15 is not broken? Otherwise just drill a hole on the handle big enough so you can pull it off, there is only one set screw.
