Default Hello from Illinois

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to let you know I've decided to stop reading only, and start talking!

When I moved to a bigger property last year, my brother volunteered to find me a "mower." What he showed up with was a red 782 with a deck and plow! And so the addiction began....

Welcome. I would say to quench the fire to stop, drop and roll to put out the flames but since I have tried it and it does not work with our fiery addiction to the Cub cadet I will not say that.

Thanks everybody

Here's a shot of the 782.... Definitely the better looker of the two. The original motor has been replaced with a Kohler M18.

And here's the 149. Came with a deck and plow, and original manuals! Haven't cleaned it up at all. The metal's all pretty solid and straight, so I might dig into some painting this winter. Or I might sell it and/or the deck and plow. What I really want is a rear tiller and snow thrower for the 782, so might have to do some selling or trading to get it. Anyway, here's the photos....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
