Default It is red but not a cub

I picked up this 1961 Wheel Horse 701 on Friday.
It still had the old Sears diehard battery in it from the 80's so it sat in the garage for a while. I spent a few hours on it and changed some wiring and some fuel lines, and got it running, runs well no smoke, and it does charge the battery. I see it is missing a footsy rest so what.
It has a nice patina on it.
It came with a front mount sickle bar mower, 36" mower deck , 42" snow plow in great shape, a cart, and a set of wheel weights.
I mounted the sickle bar mower to it today and it cut fine, not sure if the drive off the motor is correct but it only engages when it is lowered to the ground. There are not detents in the lift arm to keep it up higher, it seems this rides on the ground.
My plans are to mount the gear timed mower deck on it tomorrow and see how it cuts.
Pics or it is a figment of my imagination...

Great find Uncle Lewy!! You have a nose for finding those gems. Looks like it is in great (unmolested) shape for its age. Amazing the simple design that got the job done back in the 60's. Looks like the protruding edge on the front rims was characteristic of '61, just like on the O's. That front sickle bar looks very useful. What's the future hold for that one? Keeper? Flip?

Nice little tractor, I like the sickle bar. I imagine they are rather hard to find.

I personally really really like your little tractor. I love cubs but something about those early WH tractors just screams Americana... No idea what ya paid but Im guessing you got a good deal.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
