Default Quietline issues?

Been looking for a new tractor for my father and was entertaining the quietline series.

I have read the magnetic clutch is a superior design versus the older styles?

From being a member here, I know the motor mounts are a common problem area...not afraid to tackle that. Are there any other items I should be concerned with? He does really want a 1200.

Overall, very solid units. The 16hp engine is known for vibration, but is a good, torquey unit. The iso-mounts are the biggest issue.

The muffler box tends to vibrate itself to pieces. The muffler itself lacks a lot of support. Kirk Engines has a fix for that. Bad mounts could lead to other problems such as worn oil pans or stripped oil pan threads. That being said I have 2. The 1200 is a little different animal being a gear drive. The clutch disc has a flexible center that takes a beating. Some have gone to solid motor mounts and a clutch setup from a 128. Eliminates 2 problems. No more wearing mounts and no more cracking flexible clutch discs.

Are the clutches really that bad in the 1200s? I figure if I was to do the solid mount conversion I should have no issues?

Are you able to comment on the 2 different ptos?

I’ve really had no issues with either as long as they’re in good shape and adjusted properly. The electric are more expensive should it need replaced.

The center portion of the Quietline 3-pin drive plate is made of flexible spring steel.
Because the Quietlines rubber ISO engine mount system creates engine movement, the flex in the 3-pin drivers center section allows the driveshaft to maintain a straight line.
Problems occur with the 3-pin driver, not of it's own fault, but when the ISO mounts get so badly worn, the excessive engine movement causes the flex center of the 3-pin driver to crack.

If you go to solid mounts, and your existing 3-pin driver is not cracked you should be ok.

I have two 1200's. On the new to me 1200, I went with solid mounts and a solid 3 pin driver. I'm a fan of the electric pto. I've never felt under powered with a 12hp btw.
Quietlines are sexy!

I own a 1450 and when I got it it needed new ISO mounts, new oil pan, flex discs, all the usual stuff. I did not want to buy the expensive ISO mounts, so I swapped everything over to a 129/149 frame, and mounted the engine solid. I think I had to shorten the driveshaft a little. I don't have the side panels, so that wasn't an issue. I think it was a justifiable modification. It shakes a little at idle, but smooths out at WOT mowing speed.
The electric PTO is the bomb. But I wouldn't want to buy a new one.
