Default Redneck hitch

You guys and your fancy pants welding / fab skills.... are awesome. If I had your skill, I'd post up pics of my work. However, since I don't have these skills, I'll post a pic of my latest project, a redneck hitch on the rear of a Cub Tank (Zero turn). I have no desire to pull anything of any size with this mower, but would like to pull a small lawn trailer with some garden tools, rakes, hoes, etc., in it, maybe some mulch.

Anyway, I made a hitch plate out of a piece of scrap metal that I had laying around. I will confess, I have never referred to myself as a welder, but the two pieces of metal seem to be stuck together, so I'll call it good enough (grin).

Here is the finished product.

Thanks ACecil..... it took a few minute to figure out how to make the hitch plate horizontal when the C channel is at a 15%? degree angle.... but it was a fun little project.

Some people say welding is an Art, if I wanted to be an Artist I would of learned how to paint, LOL
When I went to welding school in the Navy in 1973 the old Chief told all of us in the class
( when you leave here you will be a Good Welder or One Hell of a Grinder )
I guess I was a Good welder all the Sub's I welded on came back up,
But if you seen my welds now you would never belive I welded on Sub's,
Now i'm one Hell of a Good Grinder, LOL
I think what your going to use it for will hold fine,
and if it breaks just reweld it,

I have a Nephew at Great Lakes (Boot Camp) as I type... His original induction date was in November, but he got postponed until March. I suspect he is very happy that he missed Boot Camp in January.

My Dad was in the Navy 1942 till 1945 and came out as a Chief
I went to boot camp in San Diego in 1965 stayed in for 20 years and came out as Chief, my kids didn't go in the service,
but my Grandson is a second class E-5 and on the USS Bush,
and he plans on staying in for 20,
I hope your Nephew likes it because the kids in there now day get a lot of good training, and they make some good money now days,
my grandson makes more now as an E-5 than I made as an E-7 Chief,

Yep with a welder, Grinder, And A Big Hammer you can make anything fit,

Nephew is still in boot camp so communication is extremely limited. However, he has said that at first the days seem to last forever, but now that he is getting close to Graduation, the days a flying by and they are rushing to get done all the stuff that has to be done (whatever that is) so they can graduate.

If you leave a feller in the garage with a couple old bolts and a welder, anything could happen. I figured I might as well make a "one of a kind" (grin) hitch pin to go along with the hitch.

Here is what I ended up with:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
