Default Wideframe mule drive setup

Hi all,

Getting my 1250 project further along, paint is done on the new-old deck (38C) and mule drive/hanger assy. I acquired this project already disassembled and had some missing bits, so i have a couple questions on the mule drive setup. I've pieced together what i think is correct, but want to make sure. On the idler pivot shaft, are there supposed to be any spacers between the frame end the idler arm? The CPE-2B mower deck manual doesn't seem to indicate any. Also, the drive belt pulleys on this mule drive are both "canted" pretty heavily to one side, is that normal or have the idler arms been bent a bit over time? Pics below (hopefully).

Thanks for any advice!
Mark

Attached is the Mule Drive for the WF Tractors (400,001 to 665,000).

There are four Cotter Pins and four Washers that prevent the Lever Arms from sliding back/forth on the Shaft. Two would be placed where the red arrows shows, and the other two on the outside of the Frame.

Your setup appears to be for a 44 or 50 deck...not a 38. BTW, a you need to convert the pulley on the deck to make it work on a 1250. 38C uses a 5/8 belt used on 82 series and up.

The canted pulleys should be normal for that style as the center mower spindle is off to the side and not under the center of the tractor as the older decks are,I think on some decks the belt straddles the front left deck hanger . I was thinking of the 44" deck, not to familiar with the 38 !

You are correct regarding the offset pulleys from the 44 and 50. However, the 38 is different and the center pulley is...well centered in the hanger.

You will need them to look like these new ones. You can always bend them to be straight.

Taking a break from hurricane prep and thought i would elaborate a bit. Looks like i created this issue myself. When i got the 1250, it came w/ a 44 inch deck and this mule drive, both disassembled. The deck shell turned out to need too much welding to use and i found this 38 which was in ok shape, but no mule drive. I used the 1/2" drive belt center pulley from the 44 on the 38 when rebuilding it. Is there a chance of finding a usable mule drive & hanger set up for a 38C? Lastly, do i have any other issues lurking in the wings by trying to use this 38?
Thanks again,
-Mark

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
