Default I think my coil is fried
I have my rebuilt (the right way) k301 that I got up and running about two weeks ago. It's been running beautifully. Today I went out to check the rpm with a non-contact tach to set my max rpms. She started right up and I was running at about 2500 rpm. I went to give it a bit more throttle and she instantly cut out. She's getting no spark. I have new kohler points, condenser, napa coil with internal resistor and new condenser. I checked the ohms neg to pos on the coil and its only reading 1 ohm. Pos to tower about 9k ohms. It recent rained and there was some moisture on the coil. Anyone know ylwhat might have happened? I do have a new Bosch blue in the garage but I don't want to try this as well.

Normal resistance on the Kohler gnition Coil is 4 to 8 ohms on the Primary and 7 to 12K ohms on the Secondary.

I already have the coil specs. That's why I'm worried about my coil only having 1 ohm in the primary. I'm just looking for suggestions as to what may have caused a brand new coil that was working flawlessly for 2 weeks suddenly crap out.

Grandpa once told me that sometimes a coil will get hot and break its internal winding connection, then cool down and work fine...

Grandpa had a lot of useful information. For no more than a junkyard coil costs, a control vs. experiment coil might be worth while.

Thanks for the replies. The following morning I took the coil off and the primary and secondary checked out correctly with ohmmeter. Put it back on and started right up. Wondering if the previous rain and high humidity shorted something out. By the way, what is the max RPM that a k301 should be set at?

All Kohlers should be 3600 RPM Max

That is exactly what Grandpa was talking about...

Looks to be about $15 on ePay to shut my Grandpa up...
