New carb or Kit? Faded Serial # for Command?

I just purchased Another 1864

The seller was very nice and Honest with me.

It had been sitting in storage and the gas went stale.

It has a Kohler Command on it.

I want to take the carb off and clean it or replace it if needed.

Where is the best place to get a kit?

Or is there a Good New carb I could buy and just bolt on and go?

The tractor model is 144-684-100 and is a High 850000 serial #

Here's is the (Main) reason for the post.

The serial #on the engine is almost gone picture below.

I have an 1863 that has a Kohler Command.

The serial # is in a different location and readable.

Are the Carburetors different?

They are the same. Same Kroller spec #.

Thanks for the info.

I have yet to pull this in the sunlight and try to document what I can still See.

Some of the numbers are still legible with a Maginifying glass.

I put Sea Foam in the gas.

It has not kicked in yet

Now I think I will start with a Kit.

I had a carb on a Kohler CH20 that would cause engine surging above idle. After multiple cleanings I could not rectify the issue. I purchased this carb off of ebay and it worked great right out of the box. Hope this helps.

Not bad mouthing the product but I can tell you this from experience:
# 1. It stinks to high heaven. Get it on your hands or clothing and you still smell it days later.
#2. Keep it stored in the tin can that it comes in and one day you will begin to smell it because it has eaten through the can and has run all over the shelf you had it stored on.

I pulled that 1864 in the sunlight today.

I got a Magnify glass and #2 pencil with eraser.

Put some pencil marks on it and erased it.

I am not 100% sure on serial #

The Model # CH18S and Spec# is 62509.

I found a kit on e bay for $8

Found a new carb for $319.oo.

Are there any Vendor's on the Forum?

My 1864 143-684-100 seems to be just a little older than yours but has the same model and spec on the Kohler.

Hard to beat that price for a plug and play unit and confirmation it worked great right out of the box. Cheap enough to have a spare on the shelf!
