Default compression and fuel pump question

We picked up another 149. I will be putting a 19 horse 3 cylinder Kubota diesel into it. My question is the guy I got the tractor from, does garden tractor pulling and the Kohler motor that I pulled out of this 149, has 130 psi compression. The fuel pump mounted on the side of it, is like a 314 John Deere would have.

What could he have done to this engine to get that kind of compression?

With this kind of compression, none of our garden tractor battery's will turn the motor over past the compression stroke, but a car battery will turn it over.

Sorry for the long post.

I'm betting he has disabled the compression release, and might even have a hot cam in there... And the cylinder head is probably shaved down pretty good. The hot pulling motors do typically need a heavy duty starter......I bet you could sell that motor and make a few bucks off it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
