Default Options?

My 1872's m18s has a Walbro 52 053 51 on it that started acting up. I took it apart to install a kit, found that the float had gas in it and replaced that, too. If I hold the carb inverted, I can't blow through the fuel supply line, which made me believe the seat was alright. However, it is still somehow leaking. Doing a search for a new carb makes my head start swimming, as one site's discontinued number leads to another. Can someone tell me where I can get one?

I am 94.2% positive you can put a carter/kohler #26 carb on an m18. Cub N boxers has one listed for sale, might need to put your choke arm on if the homemade one does not line up.

Look for a carb off a Kohler kt 17, it will bolt right on and has the adjustable needles. I run one on my m18 in an 1811 and it's great.

Most times just a needle, or needle and seat will stop the leak, not a bad $10. investment.

Looking at the cross-reference on this site;
https://www.smallenginesuppliers.com..._TP-2377-E.pdf
shows the same numbers for the K17 and M18, so I can see how they would bolt right on, but that doesn't help me find one.
According to Brian Miller's site 47 853 23-S is the Kohler OEM, which I can find, can anyone confirm this?

Was it a plastic float?

If it was metal, you have to adjust it to the correct height.....

Try this place for Walbro parts
http://vepetersen.com/
They are a Walbro dealer--give him the make and model of the carb and let them do the rest.

Sounds like you are just out of adjustment though.

As I understand it, the seat is not replaceable on this carb.
And yes, the float is plastic and adjusted correctly. (parallel)

The carb for the kt 17 has a metal float and replaceable seat like the k series carbs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
