Default Small road trip time

Going to look at an Original today. Has new paint, new wiring, switches and cables, Rear fenders and a rear lift. Needs some final assy and a few parts to complete.

I have wanted an Original since I first drove one at the IH dealer when they first came out. Dad said no to buying one since he had me to run the push mower. Whenever we went to get parts the dealer would let me mow his lot with it. Will post pictures later if we can come to an agreement on price.

Mods, please move to proper section. I just realized I posted in the CCC/MTD section

Thanks for moving this Roland.
Well, my road trip was successful. I did not buy the tractor I went for, It was not as nice as it looked in the add. Also there were way to many parts missing. It needed a S/G, air cleaner, seat, fuel tank, Drive pulley from flywheel side of engine and many other small parts. But the seller had another Original that was complete. Was an older restoration that still looked good. All was there except for the fender reflectors and the rear lift. The seller removed them and sold seperate. Also, it has all new tires, tru-powers on the back and tri ribs in the front and a new battery. He assured me that it ran great and since the battery was low I took his word for it. We loaded it on my trailer and I brought it home. I got it home and added fresh fuel, hooked up my jump pack and it fired and died. I could not get it to fire so I removed the spark plug and it was covered in oil and water. I removed the oil bath and it was full of water. Cleaned the spark plug and it started right up. After a warm up I adjusted the carb and it runs great. Ity runs and drives great. Very smooth and quiet. I washed it and took some pictures to post. I was shocked when I checked the serial number. 1530, If I read the chart right it was made in January of 1961. This really made my day. Some pictures to prove it happened. Needless to say I am stoked.

Thanks guys, I did not realize it was a four digit until I got it home and looked for the serial number. For me that was the icing on the cake. I still cannot believe how nice it starts runs and drives. For me it is a cub that I have always wanted since I first drove one when they first came out. I have a lead on a creeper gear for it and also found a set of headlights. I realize that I will never get my money back if I keep adding options to it but I figure what the heck, you cannot take it with you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
