New to me Compressor
Well Here is my new compressor....well new to me, This belonged to a township close by me and the motor and pump was rebuilt 6 years ago and broght back to shop. This was a back up machine and has had minimal use.
Motor is a Fairbanks Morse and seems to be a 60 gallon. Can someone tell me on the back of the pump there is a right angle fitting towards the bottom and on top there is a spot to screw in the "filter" and there is another threaded hole close where the filter goes, thanks Jason

Nice score Jay! I have a similar "Quincy" pump, and mine has a fitting in the same location with a strait piece of copper tubing running up and tapping into the head...dont know if that helps? These old pumps will outlast us

was that a surplus auction find? You can get some great stuff at those. I like to get the 1 gallon bags of confiscated knives from airports for $5 each.

FWIW,
The fitting that comes from the center of the crankshaft might be a crankcase vent and went up to the bottom of the missing air cleaner on the head. That is IF, there is not a vent somewhere else. It would work like the crank case vents on gasoline engines, that are usually in the valve cover. On your electric motor, it is physically larger because it has extra repulsion windings to start it. Today they use capacitors which are much less cost, and use less copper windings. Make sure you check the condensate drain on the bottom of the tank before you put pressure in it. A compressor that old tends to be rusted out from water accumulation in the tank. I would also change the oil in the compressor, as it probably is as old as me! Ha,LOL |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
