M20 question
I've looked on numerous suppliers websites and cannot find a part number for the crank case on an M20. I would like to know if the M18 and the M20 are the same crank case and Will interchange. I have a M20 with a grenaded case and know where there is a good M18 case. Both are from a Cub.

Thank you for the link. Even this genuine Kohler site does not list a part number for the crank case, so the question remains- Does anyone know if they will interchange?

From my experience, in doing parts comparison with Kohler, it is BEST, if you have the two "spec numbers" off the Model Tag. Then and only then, will you positively know for sure.

X2!
I like the mags but the gaskets and seals are expensive and it's a bunch of work. I put a new gov gear in one and it's my last. Repowered my 782 with a command and couldn't be happier.

Thank you for the feed back guys. I have begun to wonder if the M20 warrants saving. It runs great, but the starter went and after pulling the motor I found that a PO had repaired the case at the starter mounting boss and above it with a combination of weld and epoxy. It's a cobbled up mess. Perhaps I can locate a M20 case. A new motor is beyond my financial reach at the moment.

How about a pic of the boogered up starter mount, it maybe repairable.
As far as your question about interchangeability of the cases I'd call Kohler and ask them. 800-544-2444 Here are 3 M18 blocks on Flea Bay M18 block $50 http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUB-CADET-18...UAAOSwB09YF2cQ two M18 blocks $125 ea http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-Tr...MAAOSwNnRYglzP http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-18...wAAOSwYIxX6rlt

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
