1968 IH Cadet 60
Hi everyone my name is Aaron and thanks for letting me join, here is my Cadet story. I was on Craigslist looking for a mower cuz me and my wife just moved into a house. I was browsing and saw the Cadet and I was like omg, I gotta have it. I jumped in the truck and went and picked it up, I gotta say best $140 I ever spent. I got it home started it up then it would die due to flooding the carb, but I did get about 6ft of grass mowed until a belt broke. So I went and bought a new one ($15), few weeks later got new air cleaner, fuel filter ($5), float ($7), needle set ($7), now it runs without flooding mows great just sharpened the blades, next big thing is repaint it and buy new decals which my wife found some for me.. if you guys want more pics I can post some..

Hi Aaron.. Welcome to OCC. I, too, have a 1968 Cadet Model 60 Rear Engine Riding Lawn Mower, SN 18528n. I'm in East Texas but the mower was originally purchased new in the Tulsa, OK area. An operators manual, service manual, and parts manual ( and maybe even a Tecumseh manual - ask 'em) can be obtained from www.binderbooks.com. You need all of them because each has info not found the others.
Take very good care of that engine with the extended cam shaft for the reverse pedal. Those parts are long NLA. The Model 60 was: 1) the first IH RER 2) the only yellow one 3) the only one to have two pedals - one for forward & one for reverse 4) the only one with a transmission without a reverse gear. 5) the only one with a Tecumseh engine: 6 hp Tecumseh Model V60, Spec # 70148F with pull start or 70149f with Elec start PS: After more than 40 years there are not many of them around any more which pretty much makes them prized collectors items. Only @ 43,350 were produced 1968 - 1971

Nice Cadet 60! I would think you would notice some power loss with the 3.8hp motor but its worth a shot
