Default new to me 2086

I picked this up local Saturday, actually it was delivered. 2086 needed some tlc but I got it running today after cleaning the carb. Runs and drives, power steering does not wander. Rear is not broken in the usual place.
PO bolted a little gas tank on the back due to the gas tank being clogged up.
Also PO needed the PTO before I found it so he cut off the front grill with a sawzall, cutting into the battery tray, also nicked the front of the frame to remove it.
No deck, not sure what I will do to it.

Pic or it didn't happen...

It looked like the mounting flanges was in descent shape before they met the sawzall.

You paid a good price, its certainly worth that and then some at least around here. I can't believe someone would start chopping it up to just work on it. That's a sad sight.

Gee, what a shameful act of butchery

Glad you saved it. At that price I'd have bought it too.
Good thing I'm not anywhere close, I'd be interested.

My 2084 is the workhorse at my house.
With a 3-pt on the back and a winch on the front it gets a lot of duty.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
