Mis-Fire
I have been chasing an intermittent spark problem on my KT-17 on one of the cylinders, More failure than working right.
Turns out, the the metal wire end connector, up inside the boot, was "rusty". So, a soaking in "the Works" toilet bowl cleaner, rinsing and neutralizing the acid, blow it out real good, pinch the connector together for a better grip, and Wha-La.........I have a good spark now. Now, who woulda thunk..???

Glad you found the cause of your problem! Ya, I've seen that many times before, on a lot of different engines.
Similar story to CAD's: Had a 1974 C/60 Chevy grain truck come in one time. Suddenly started running rough. Started checking things over, couldn't find the source. Was sure it was in the ignition system, but couldn't find anything wrong. Decided to replace the points or clean them or something..... anyway, upon trying to remove the condenser, found out that the bracket that held the condenser to the point base had broke and the condenser wasn't mounted to anything. New condenser, FIXED! So, you never know. Some of the hardest problems I've tried to find, had the simplest solutions!! |

Or something as simple as my dad wanting to get his generator tuned up and running before winter he pulled on thag thing for a couple hours and it wouldn't start. He forgot that there was a fuel shut off in the tank. Also the low oil sensor wire had been knocked off

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
