LT1045 Parking Brake hard to engage
A few years ago, my parking brake became hard to engage. I step on the foot brake and then try to push down on the lever to engage the parking brake but it is hard to get to go down. If I rock the mower a bit while doing it, it helps but doesn't always work either. Sometimes I have to move the mower forward a little and retry it. I eventually get it, but it seems something is not quite lining up for it to easily engage. What should I look for to fix it?

Sounds like a linkage issue.. Get down and look under it.

Seriously. You mean this fat old man has to get down on the ground again?
I hate it when that happens.

In order for the Parking Brake to engage, the hydro control (fwd/reverse) pedal must be centered. If it's not centered, then you probably need to adjust linkage. Also possibly have broken/missing spring or issue with centering adjustment on transaxle.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
