Mower deck hole repair

Thought I'd share my repair. This is a 36 year old deck and I had some rust holes forming in a couple of areas. I cut galvanized sheet metal from a spare section of ductwork i had laying around and used self-tapping screws to fasten the metal over the problem areas from the underside of the deck. The screws did require predrilling at a slightly smaller hole size than the screw size since the deck metal was too thick for the screws to bore through on their own. I then used an angle grinder to grind off the protruding screw tips from the other (top) side of the deck. Should hopefully get me some more years out of this deck.

Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
