Schredder for the 782
A little late for the season but finally got my schredder attachment fitted up. I did a 2 piece so the mule could be used for other items. Also easier to store. Still have a discharge shroud to make and paint it(Color?) But is functional. :-)
BTW - The big pile of leaves in the first pic is not from this guy. Very pleased with how the tensioner worked out. |

I like it and nice work.
Maybe make a stand or some sort of landing gear like the front end loaders use to make it easy to install and remove. If you have not already done that. The 782 looks good with the rear ags and ribs on the front. Do you mow with it ? |

Nice setup. What did you do for a belt tensioner? Also noticed that the underside of your tractor is nice and clean, nice to see a well cared for machine.

Looks pretty good to me! Does the mule drive pulleys adj the belt tension? Like others have said, just needs a stand or landing gear for ease of attaching and a way for it to stand when not in use. Good job!

Thanks guys, This machine does a little of everything. Is the primary mower and the main machine my son uses for snow. It is really kinda dirty at the moment. But you guys know how it goes. Once they get grungy it is hard to get them back.
I used the belt for the mower deck. However set up 3 pulleys with 2 inches of adjustment to cover other lengths or other projects like a genset. Stands are likely in the future. I have some other work to get done on a fuel injection system testing on a cub so will have to tweak later. I see now the underside pic is before I installed the tensioner. I will take a pic tonight. Pretty simple, The closest pulley in the underside pic is the tensioner. A bolt pushes against the u-bracket surrounding the pulley. (has spacers so is a slider. Adjuster threads down from the top. Made a threaded sleeve, drilled a vertical hole above the pulley in the square stock and tacked in the sleeve. This pic shows the sleeve and the threaded adjuster, but next to solid pulley mount. |

So here are some better pics. Still need to makes some spacers to replace the washers. I thought about adding a spring to keep the pulley up against the tensioner, but frankly it works so well as is and easily hand tightens. Actually planned on the adjuster as a belt holder. Sometimes it just comes together.

That's cool Tim! Great job!
Did you build the entire chipper/shredder? Or did you start with an already built unit? |

Oh heck no. lol It is a Yard Shark that was on a little wheeled frame. It will be getting some improvements and freshened up. (and Stands) It shreds branches very well but not so much for leaves like I wanted. Needs a stationary cutter for the knives to swing through. Chipper part is awesome.
Going to add a bolt on extension to the left side of the mule for other implements. Looking for a gen head to put on it someday. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
