Default Picture of the Week: December 21, 2014

This weeks submission is sent to us by local member Richard Lause. Richard comments "Both Cubs were acquired with bad engines. The one in the back had a Series I with a window in the side, replace with a M18. The one in the foreground dropped the governor gear and scored the one jug. The jug was replaced with one from the Series I. I am retired and live in Toledo, Ohio. I grew up on a farm and have been working on and with tractors for almost 70 Years." Thanks for the submission Richard!!!

Hello. Thanks to all for all the kind compliments. I always thought the Cub Cadets were great tractors and then 2 yr. ago I saw a 147 on CL in great shape for $250.00 and I was hooked. Then some more and finally the red ones. I think they are the best of the bunch.

Great looking 782s! I see one is an IH; are they both?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
