Oil dip stick for k301
Can anyone tell me the length of the long dip stick on k301? I have a dip stick from a k301 but it is out of a deep pan k301 from a jacobson and the one from my cub is cut off but has the short one in side of block. I know the rest of broken stick is not in engine because it was taped to the handel when i got engine. So I plan to cut other (longer) one off. Thanks for any help.

According to Kohler, there are 813 versions (spec numbers) of the K-301. There are more than just the short and long version of the dipstick. Unless you give some add'l information, the question is impossible to answer.

Tough one, put the proper amount of oil in it, measure how long the dipstick needs to be to contact the oil and cut the dipstick to the correct length.

What model cub is the motor on?
Some 12hp ones had a short dipstick plug on top of the motor for adding oil,and also one on the cam cover to check the oil level.

Odd circumstances here. According to Kohler, 47376 was sold to IH. BUT.....I can't find where Cub Cadet used that K301-47376 anywhere.
Next, according to Kohler, that engine could use one of two dipsticks. It appears that difference is where the the Dipstick "pushes" in or screws in. Here is a screen shot of their Parts Listing for K301-47376...

Some kind of Buddy...
How about a picture of the tube and the stick that won't stay in? Since you don't need this stick to measure the oil level. Could you get (for the time being) one of those rubber expansion plugs with a wing nut to tighten it up and use it just as a "plug" to keep the oil in? I know that's not the best answer, but it could get you up and running again, until you find a better fix.

Thanks Roland! I see that on parts tree there are 11 dipsticks but there is only one part number!
Was thinkin the same thing Sam. Prob will have to see if i can find a rubber soft plug to block it off. If my breaher is somehow not functioning right would that make the stick blow out? Just curious because i have neen running it all summer and only recently had this problem. First time I thought maybe i didnt have it in tight after adding oil. After the second i thought one of the boys were playing with it. But now I am thinking something else is going on??? I will take pics of the tube and the sticks I have.(stick and half)
