Another Stack Project
Well finally finished up working on my exhaust on the old 127. Now i know i took the long and tedious rout by fabbing my own, but i like trying new things and being able to say i made that with minimal tools and alot of effort.
So here's what I did if anyone wants to use my approach and try one of theirs. I went and got a few pieces of the classic 1" black pipe at the local big box store. Now for me I didn't like the look of going straight out of the motor toward the grill so i knew I would have to do a turn out before that to move the stack toward the rear of the reactor. I also did not like the look of using pipe elbows to achieve the bends so here's where i had to get clever. To get the black pipe and exhaust tubing to bend all I did was make angular cuts in the pipes and turn them 180 Deg on one another to achieve the bends needed. Then i welded them together and smoothed out the welds. I think she turned out rather well. I also added a support bracket down to the frame just as some insurance.

Looks like a very functional, robust stack and muffler. Should be good for years.
Regards, Chris

What is the best paint to use on this? I know obviously high temp, but would engine block paint be high enough, Or would i have to go with extreme high like actually header paint?? I would like to go with engine paint if i can for more color choice, but if now would i do the header part in black extreme high header paint then do the muffler in engine paint?? thanks guys

Looks great!
I love stacks on Cubs.....until 2 weeks ago when a branch at our hunting land wanted to hang on to mine on my 122. No damage but I have plans to change mine back to stock, just scared me a bit. Mine has been on for 10 years. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
