Passed up on a too new for me Cub Cadet today
It was tempting but I made myself walk away. While I was shopping at the local scrap yard today someone unloaded this rough HDS2155. It appears to be complete, except for the deck. The wiring is a mess. The headlight and grill have been patched up with screws. The engine is not stuck. The price is $75.
If it were not so beat up I might bring it home. The vultures will start picking it over the weekend. |

Deja vu.
That tractor would be fun to dress up and do something fun/wild with, but only for about $40. Had a friend one time that would get little mowers like that and race them in the back yard until they just wouldn't go any more or make them look like the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine and putter around on them. I just picked up the bigger brother to that one, a 2165 with the vanguard 16 in it for cheap. All it needed was the driveshaft barrels replaced (has a weird system with 16 little polyeurothene barrels that are in the drive shaft couplers). Ended up being a nice mower, foot operated hydro and cup holder for a cold ber
I would have passed on that one as well but the bigger ones aren’t bad with good vanguard and commands in them for other repowers in the future. This one is going to be a good flipper. 36EAFBBD-1F7D-424C-AD84-902D1BBD5342.jpg

If all your doing is mowing they actually are a decent machine for the money!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
