Hds 2155
I snagged a HDS 2155 for a cool $200 on Craigslist. Guy said it worked fine last fall but got to where it would not turn over sometimes, just “click”.
I slapped a new 300 CCC amp battery in it and it fires right up no issue! I’ve turned it off and on multiple times no problem it cranks every time. I did find the seat safety switch unhooked entirely (not spliced together) and I hooked it back up, not sure if that was the issue or not. I also had to put a tube in the rear left tire since it was cracked sidewall and off the rim. So all in all I’ve put a total of $250 into this mower and it works great! Only thing missing is the headlight cover and bulb connectors, and one deck wheel/axle is missing. |

Does anyone know how to adjust the deck height? I have it set at the highest level 6 and it’s like 2-3 inches off the ground. If I drop it down to 4 it’s resting on the ground…

Looks like all they have on that link is parts diagrams, no manuals for this particular model. I've found instructions online for Levelling the deck, which it probably needs as well, but I think it also sits too low since Its resting on the ground on level 4 and the max is 6. Would levelling it also allow me to adjust the height?

Thanks! Looks like the only adjustment is leveling I’ll see if that helps at all.

Remove anti-scalping wheels and see if that allows you to lower deck any further
Check the 2 rear hangers to see if they are straight and allow the deck to move up and down Check front deck hanger for free movement Find the segment gear for deck height adjustment and see if it is tight or has been relocated into a position that causes your deck to be high If all is as it seems a couple of photos may show up the problem Oz

I bet it’s the segment gear for the adjustment lever, as when I got the mower the back fenders were unbolted from the frame so someone might have taken it all apart at some point. I’ll see if I can check it once it stops raining.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
