1862
Found an 1862 that has been sitting a while. Plastic is 100%, hood, grill/nose, and sides are perfect. No damage anywhere! Paint is average, some peeling and surface rust on the foot rests. Seat is junk. Tires are up but badly weather checked. Included are two IH rear wheel weights and bolts, a really nice 42" deck and the mule drive. Tractor is complete. It has been sitting nearly 2 years with the starter off it. Owner said it had wiring issues and wouldn't start. The kicker is that the Kohler M18 is set up. No turn-ee, No how. So, what do you guys think it's worth? If I can get it cheap, I'll part it out.

Agreed. And most of that is in the wheel weights.

I would do a little better than that. Go buy the plastic new and you're out $950 +/-.
Then find a 1641 for $150 that's not rusty but somebody knocked all the plastic off and put the PS, Sunstrand and wheel weights on that one. Makes for a nice package. |

I'd go $3-350.00. Repower it and you have a nice machine.

Thanks Guys. Owner is being a bit of a dick about selling now. Claims he has a "sight unseen offer" of $375. His ad read $350. I offered $275 and told him to call me if it falls through. As I began to walk away, he said he'd take the $350 " cause I was there". I told him "no, he should call his $375 sight unseen offer and have him come get it. It will be more money in your pocket". I also left him my number, so we'll see what happens. I really don't need it but the plastic sure was nice and would look good sitting on my parts shelf waiting for the right Cub. Fingers crossed!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
