New looking for Old
Found this site on the "other" tractor site, been looking for a "tank of a tractor" within reason for sometime. Would like to find a well maintain IH cub, look at a 1250, but was told it was a bear to drive because of no hyd steering and iso mounts could be a issue, just will be doing the usual stuff, cutting, hauling, pushing, etc. any suggestions?

WELCOME !!!!! Glad your here
Id imagine and in my honest opinion that any intertnational harvester cub cadet would be great to do the job!! When your rolling I dont think steering will be an issue even without power assist and the 1250 would be an outstanding tractor.I have also heard the iso mounts can be a problem but there is, I have heard to remedy that. There are many modles to choose from, simple 70s and originals to the highly sought after deisles,if your going to be mowing alot i think a higher horse 1200 1450 or even 1650 would be great. Others will have great suggestions as well. I have a 123 that will do everything ive asked it to do,pull a plo, push dirt, till, pull one heck of a load, ect, ect. Im likeing the geardrives also for they are a bit simpler!! good luck Jason |

1990 model CC 1882
On Tuesday I just bought my second Cub, a 1990, 1882. Let me tell you it feels like a tank. It has a Kwik-Way loader, a model 383 cat 0, 3 point hitch, and a 50 inch deck. It takes a little getting used to not having a throttle pedal like my LT 1018 but it is so much neater looking. Now that I've said all that, does know of any downsides to the 1882? To me it seems like given good maintenance it will last forever. Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
