First, welcome to OCC.......

I would suggest, that you look and examine all the "linkage" components from the Hydro Lever back to the Damper Plate. Sounds like some connection needs to be lubricated and/or replaced.

Thanks for the welcome. my first post here. I checked as much as i could without ripping it apart again. seems to be in handle rod area that runs parallel with steering column. it wont budge, and i oiled everything up good. everything else seems to be free and was fine last year, when i took it apart to free plunger and cleaned out trans.
everything worked fine and there was no linkage problem or play in it. i looked at parts diagram, with no help to what could be frozen. i looked at another hydro recently and lever was frozen as well. it was too rough & i passed on that one. im in nj & machine is upstate ny. heading up there now, & will check replies later. thanks! jim

Attached is a Parts Manual image of the entire Transmission Linkage. Look through it and see if there are areas that you didn't get to.

Thanks. that diagram is exact what i looked at, i was unable to really access the shifter rod and lower washers/sleeve. I flooded it with diesel fuel several times thinking it would get in somewhere, tilted machine on side as well flooding it. the machine was outside over winter & water must have got in somewhere. I thought maybe it had detent balls to hold shift lever in position. let me see how i make out up there. maybe oil worked its way in, i doubt it, but i may get lucky. I just got the machine 1 year ago there, it would only go in reverse. I paid $175 & engine is fine. just a stuck plunger, and trans oil was nasty & waxy. It may never have been changed. It flies now forward. thanks for speedy replies. Very nice site here. Thanks again.

I had this issue with my 105, I sprayed PB blaster on this portion two times a day for about three or four days, each time I sprayed it I also wiggled the lever back and forth with a medium amount of force (no hammer or tools..just used my hands)..eventually it broke free. ( I'm really new to the IH Cubs, so I don't know how well the 127 linkage compares to the 105.)

I ended up drilling a hole near the bottom of the shaft. I was able to tap shaft and it eventually broke loose after 3 days of oil. I seems the #22 washes in diagram were rusted & frozen. The machine is covered now! How do you post a picture? It wants a URL add?

One way is, make sure the picture you want to add is on your computer and you know it's file name and location. Then, below the area where you type your message, click the "Go Advanced" button. The menu bar at the top will expand with more items, one of which is a paper clip (attachments). Click on the paper clip and a "Manage Attachments" window will open up. Click on "Browse" and locate your pics filename and location, then click "Upload".
Do it again if you have multiple pictures. Your pics won't appear in your typing box but you can click "Preview Post" and see them before you click "Submit Reply".

Simple as that, easy peezie lemon squeezee!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
