Default 290 deck issue

Before I go through and take the deck off again, any ideas on why the center blade doesn't cut at all? I'm sure it could need a sharpening or replaced. Never seen even a dull blade do nothing.

I verified the pulley is spinning. Hoping it is something simple

Is this how your belt is run?

There is a woodruff key on each spindle shaft also but I've not seen one broke yet?

Ya didn't put the blade on upside down did ya? I've almost done that a few times.

Yup that's how it's run. All pullies are spinning.

Haven't touched the blades since picking it up. Don't doubt they need replacing, sharpening definitely. Just never seen this on a rider before. Figured I would ask before disconnecting it.

I had a pulley strip out on the shaft once. Long time ago, cannot remember which Cub.

Figured it out.

Blade wasn't tightened down. It could be spun by a finger. Now it's on to buy more tools. Can't believe the nut is larger the 1".

I always wonder why people don't check obvious things before running to the internet for help. Guess lack of common sense anymore.

J, I disagree. This man was asking for help and is a new member. Let's try and help people with our obsession rather than steer them away.

OP, glad you got it figured out and welcome to OCC...the best Cub Cadet site on the net!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
